"A beautiful space where I was was inspired and supported to create a new performance piece. Transformative experience."

Harriet (Clown & Cabaret performer)

“Thank you again for such an inspiring time, for your warmth and your talent as a clown doula. I can’t wait to come back and continue the work!”

Marie - Clown Solo 'Mortelle!'

What is it?

Five days dedicated to nurturing the seeds of your next clown solo show.

This residency is not a training, but a pépinière — a small, fertile space where ideas can take root and grow.

Whether you already have an embryo of a show or are still searching for the spark, this residency offers time, inspiration, and exchange with others on the same journey. With only three participants, the atmosphere will be intimate and generous, tailored on your needs — a space to explore, share, get inspired, and play.

Sophie will accompany you as an outside-eye director, helping you find the first steps of your creation or refine what has already begun to emerge. Through playful prompts & visual poetry she will help you shape the world of your show.

The day will be divided between group work and time for individual exploration/supervision with Sophie and on the last evening we will invite our friends from village to have a peep into our worlds: A good opportunity for you to test out your ideas in front of a friendly audience.

To make this residency more affordable to clown performers, we set up a new "community" formula where we all help out and prepare meals together.

“I was really struggling to move forward on my own, and this residency allowed me to find the first steps of my clown solo. Sophie brought a poetic perspective to what was unfolding and particularly helped me with a subtle, precise work on the physicality and the world of my clown. Ready to show 10 min of it in a festival in a couple of weeks!”
